One person has died and two have been left fighting for their lives following a six car crash in Sydney’s northwest.

The multi-vehicle crash unfolded on the corner of Blaxland Road and First Avenue in Eastwood at 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services were immediately called before one of the people involved in the crash died at the scene.

Four people were rushed to hospital including two women who are in a critical condition at Royal North Shore Hospital.

NSW Fire and Rescue said on social media that three people were trapped in their vehicles after the horror smash. 

Confronting photos taken at the scene showed several vehicles horrifically damaged from collision during the accident.

Those involved in the crash will undergo mandatory blood and urine testing, police said in a statement.

‘Officers from Ryde Police Area Command have established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.’ 

Drivers have been warned to expect major delays with both roads closed.

Eastbound traffic running along Rutledge Street is currently being diverted onto East Parade while First Avenue is closed in both directions.
