Six female contestants from Australian Ninja Warrior speak about conquering the Warped Wall obstacle

In a world first, six female contestants have conquered the infamous Warped Wall obstacle on season two of Australian Ninja Warrior.

The Warped Wall is 4.2 metres high and curves upwards at a 90-degree angle – a surface so steep it took contestants six years to clear on the US version of the show.

And on Wednesday, six female Australian Ninja Warriors – Andrea Hah, Olivia Vivian, Betsy Burnett, Celeste Dixon, India Henry and Georgia Bonora – appeared on Channel Nine’s Today show to speak about their amazing feat.

Celeste, 31, said it was fellow contestant Andrea, 30, who inspired her, saying: ‘Andrea going up the wall last year was a standalone performance for me – that should be every single woman.’

She added: ‘Every single little girl should also aspire to that. And that’s now something we can say that as Australians, we’ve done that.’

In 2017, during the show’s debut season, Andrea became the first Australian female contestant to scale the Warped Wall.

Olivia Vivian, 29, also told Today co-hosts Ben Fordham and Sylvia Jeffreys: ‘It just took a ripple effect of just one out there to spread. And now you’ve got six of us who have conquered the Warped Wall.’

Olivia also pointed out that when they compete on Australian Ninja Warrior, it is the first time contestants get to attempt the obstacles.

Betsy Burnett, 29, added: ‘I put in a lot of hours in the gym and a lot of hours hill sprinting and stair sprinting to get up that wall.’

Olivia was the first woman to scale the Warped Wall on Australian Ninja Warrior’s second season, pulling off a show-stopping backflip in the process.

Following her impressive achievement, the former Olympian told The Daily Telegraph she enjoyed outperforming the male contestants.

‘I love beating the men, I love it. I thrive on it,’ she said.

Australian Ninja Warrior continues Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine
