Six people escape after speedboat EXPLODES into flames

Six people have narrowly escaped death after the speedboat they were riding on exploded into flames.

The boat caught fire on the River Murray in Sunlands, South Australia at 1.10pm on Thursday.

The $35,000 boat had recently been serviced but was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The Country Fire Service said they were alerted to reports of an explosion on the river.

Four people jumped into the water as the flames began to engulf the vessel while two remained to fight the fire.

Firefighters arrived and put the blaze out before towing what remained of the boat back to shore.

Photos from the scene show the speedboat covered in flames and thick smoke as firefighters on another vessel attempt to manage it.

The burnt-out remains of the boat were loaded onto a trailer back on the shore.

The damage caused by the blaze was severe, and the speedboat was left almost completely black and destroyed as a result.
