A sixth-grader from Long Island says she was prevented from picking Donald Trump as a ‘hero’ for her class project.

Bella Moscato, 11, claims the teacher at Samoset Middle School did not share her admiration for the president – and went on to denigrate the commander-in-chief in front of the entire class.

‘Donald Trump is my hero,’ she told Long Island’s Channel 12.

‘The teacher said I wasn’t allowed to do Donald Trump because he spreads negativity and says bad things about women.’

‘The thing I didn’t get, she was OK with someone doing Barack Obama, but not OK with Donald Trump? That’s what got me angry,’ the student said.

Bella had been a fan of the 45th president since she was eight years old, and even dressed up as Trump for a third-grade class project.

Her parents were outraged and are looking for an apology from the girl’s educator, accusing the teacher of attempting to intimidate Bella.

Her mother, Valerie Moscato, claims what her teacher did amounts to censorship.

Bella’s father also feels similar: ‘I can’t believe that anybody in the school would tell her that Trump can’t be her hero,’ Arthur Moscato said at a school board meeting.

‘No one should make a child feel that way, and you’re supposed to protect my child,’ he said.

Despite making some good arguments as to why President Trump should be declared a hero, Bella and her parents claim the teacher would not accept Trump as an acceptable answer

The school board say the entire story has been twisted and blown out of proportion.

‘It is not accurate that this student was told that they were not allowed to conduct research or report on any individual for a school assignment, including President Trump. To the best of our knowledge, by choice the student is still conducting their project of President Trump,’ the school district said in a statement.

‘I wish to make it clear that the District does not endorse or condone any limitation or prohibition upon a student’s choice of the President of the United States of America as the subject of his or her ‘Hero’ report,’ Sachem Central School District’s superintendent Kenneth Graham said in a statement.
