The woman takes the lead as the contest gets to an exciting start
The footage begins with the young man talking to the camera, which he holds with a selfie stick while riding through the streets.
But then the woman in the mobility scooter comes zooming up behind him before overtaking as they cross the road.
Realising he has been challenged to ‘the race of the century’ the gobsmacked skateboarder exclaims: ‘Oh my God, we’re getting schooled.’
As the woman takes the lead the man says about her vehicle: ‘Woah, that thing is fast. It’s so fast.’
In a daring move she swerves into the outside cycle lane to get better traction.
The race is on: The pair are neck and neck as they speed down the pavement
The skateboarder manages to just edge victory in the end
She occasionally looks to her right as her opponent, crouched down and determined, zooms past her.
Eventually the skateboarder takes the lead before coming to a stop at the end of the pavement.
Still reeling in shock at the ability of his worthy opponent, he ends the clip by saying: ‘Holy s***, she was fast.’
