Weight watcher: Bank boss Andrew Bailey
Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey is already winning the battle against rising prices – and is now shedding pounds of a different sort too.
Bailey responded to a question about his new slimline appearance by admitting that his efforts to get his weight down have been yielding results. Asked whether he had been on an exercise regime, he told the Sunday Times: ‘You are right.
‘It’s been an unsuccessful ambition for some time, but during this summer I have had success.
‘I’m happy to reduce something else as well as inflation.’
The revelation came after Bailey attended the Jackson Hole conference of central bankers in the US state of Wyoming last week.
A Bank spokesman would not comment when asked whether, like some others, the governor had turned to weight-loss drug Ozempic to help him slim down.
