A five-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital today after being run over by a car.

The girl is fighting for her life with serious head injuries after the crash in Smithfield, west Sydney at 4pm.

Paramedics treated the girl at the scene before calling in an air ambulance to race her to hospital.

A New South Wales Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: ‘A girl was transported to hospital in critical condition after suffering serious head injuries when she was hit by a car.’
