A deadly snake was filmed trying to slither back out of a cormorant’s throat after the bird swallowed it whole in a dramatic fight to the death.

Aleks Ceklic spotted the highly venomous dugite – one of Australia’s most deadly serpents, locked in a tussle with the seabird, also known as a shag, on Sunday.

After nearly making a getaway, the shag manages to contain the snake within its mouth.

As Mr Ceklic filmed the battle, the shag swallowed the snake whole however the creature could be seen trying to wriggle back up out of its beak to escape its clutches.

Despite nearly choking on its oversized meal, the bird appears to keep down the lunchtime meal.

Looking slightly distressed trying to keep the snake down, the video ends as the black and white shag’s throat shakes while trying to digest the food.

With a little lining in its stomach, the seabird wanders back into the ocean without waiting any time before a swim.
