So what DID William text Harry after couple’s explosive Oprah interview? Moment Duke grimaces and clasps his hands behind his head after receiving message from his brother amid fallout from their bombshell accusations

  • Prince Harry was filmed with Meghan as he received a message from his brother
  • He appeared to show the text to her before the couple embraced each other
  • It followed the couple’s explosive  interview with Oprah Winfrey last year

The moment William texted Harry in the aftermath of the Sussexes’ bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview is captured in their new Netflix series – sparking intense debate about what the Prince of Wales’ message said.

The Harry & Meghan documentary shows the duchess going through Buckingham Palace’s statement issued in response to the couple’s claims that a member of the Royal Family asked how dark their son’s skin would be.

She reads the statement allowed, which states: ‘The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

Harry is then seen receiving a text from William after the couple’s explosive Oprah interview which he then shows to Meghan

Body language expert JUDI JAMES on what the text may have said

‘Harry seems to seek to trigger the maternal, nurturing response from his wife here, holding the phone out to her like a kid might hold out a small injury to its mother for inspection and comfort.

‘It would appear there would be something on that screen that is strong enough for her to react to instantly. Most people receiving a difficult text would read it out, scrolling down. What had William written that would leap off the screen so comprehensively from a distance?

‘Harry re-places his fingers across his lips but the next reaction we see of him is pure toddler. His arms are up above his head with his hands on the back of his head in distress and his back seems to be arched so that his entire bare belly is protruding from under his T-shirt.

‘Siblings that have been as close as Harry and William once were will always know the right words to use to get a rise or response from each other and whatever William wrote does seem to have connected emotionally with Harry. It’s not an angry response though, it suggests confusion and sadness, tinged with possible frustration. Meghan’s response is like a mother to an unhappy child, placing her arms round Harry’s waist and rocking him.’

‘The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.’

Then Harry shows Meghan the screen of his phone, prompting her to say: ‘Wow, H just got a text from his brother!’

The message is not shown, but it appears to have a dramatic impact on the prince, who grimaces and clasps his hands behind his head, muttering: ‘I wish I knew what to do.’

Meghan responds: ‘I know. Let’s take a breather. Get some air and then decide.’ The pair were filmed as they embraced and then stood holding each other in silence.

Another clip from the final episode shows Harry covering Meghan’s eyes with his hand as they sit down to watch their Oprah interview on TV.

They are sitting on a sofa with their dog Pula, as Meghan – pregnant with Lilibet at the time – lovingly strokes Harry’s face.

Harry covers her eyes as unfavourable headlines about Meghan are shown on the screen.

Yesterday’s episodes saw Harry fire several other potshots at his relatives, including an incendiary claim that William left him ‘terrified’ during a meeting to discuss Megxit.

The Duke of Sussex alleged his older brother, now heir to the throne, left him ‘terrified’ during the January 2020 Sandringham Summit while he ‘screamed and shouted’ at him in front of their father and grandmother as he tried to thrash out a deal to leave the UK.

Harry also accused Charles of telling untruths to his face and Her Majesty of saying nothing at the now infamous ‘Sandringham Summit’, and told of the ‘heartbreaking’ rift with his brother.

He said: ‘It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that just simply weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, quietly sit there and take it all in’.

However, despite making the sensational allegations against his brother and father, Harry failed to reveal what actually went on during those conversations, leading to further questions about his claims.

Instead, Harry simply said that he was offered ‘five options’ during the meeting – although he went on to claim that there was actually ‘no discussion or debate’ about the final outcome.

‘I went in with the same proposal that we’d already made publicly, but once I got there I was given five options – one being all in, no change, five being all out,’ he said.

‘I chose option three in the meeting – half in, half out. Have our own jobs but also work in support of the Queen. It became very clear very quickly that goal was not up for discussion or debate.’
