Sol Campbell now OUT of the running for vacant England U21 job after failing to make the final stage of the application process

Sol Campbell is no longer in the running for the vacant England Under-21 job.

Sportsmail revealed this month that the former Arsenal an England defender had held talks about replacing Aidy Boothroyd after being asked to apply for the role.

But Campbell has not made the final stage of the application process.

Justin Cochrane, current head coach for England’s U17s, Ian Foster, the current U19s head coach, Liam Rosenior, Steve Cooper, Mark Warburton and Paul Simpson all believed to be contenders.

Boothroyd was told his contract with the FA would not be renewed following England’s disappointing campaign at the recent European Under-21 Championships.
