Son of Formula 1 champion James Hunt slams Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of his father in biopic Rush: ‘He played dad like a t**t’
Formula 1 champion James Hunt’s son Freddie has slammed Australian actor Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of his father in biopic Rush.
Chris played James in the 2013 film about the rivalry between the race car driver and Niki Lauda.
Freddie told the Pitstop Podcast, he wasn’t impressed with how the actor portrayed his father in the film.
‘I don’t know if I should be upset with Chris or [film director] Ron Howard because he basically played dad like a t**t,’ he said.
‘I don’t know if it’s due to his poor acting or he was directed to play that way.’

Freddie continued: ‘Daniel Brûhl who played Niki did an absolute masterpiece.’
‘He actually asked Niki if he could spend some time with him so he could learn his mannerisms and really get to know him.’
The movie depicts the story of the 1976 Formula One season.

James won the world title from Niki by just one point following a controversial campaign where Niki suffered an almost life-ending crash after his Ferrari erupted into a fireball at the Nurburgring.
Miraculously Niki, who was influential in persuading Lewis Hamilton to join Mercedes, returned to the cockpit after missing just two races, but narrowly missed out on retaining his title.
The film also explores the personal lives of both the race car drivers including James’ failed marriage to supermodel Suzy Miller.
‘I don’t know if I should be upset with Chris or [film director] Ron Howard because he basically played dad like a twat,’ Freddie said
