A man who slammed the handbrake on his mother’s car and pushed her head first onto the road before driving off in a rage has avoided a jail sentence.

Kaydin Peihopa, 26, was sitting in the passenger seat while his mother drove along a road in Huntly, New Zealand, on an afternoon in May, Stuff reported.

Peihopa became enraged after an argument broke out between the pair and pulled the handbrake, causing the car to skid and block the southbound lane.

His mother tried to reverse the car but he knocked it out of gear and punched the ceiling twice before throwing her out of the car.

Luckily, his mother was able to get up and walk to the other side of the road.

She is now suffering from bruises, grazing, a swollen lump on her forehead, a sore neck and headache.

‘It’s s… what I did to my mother,’ Peihopa admitted to police after the incident.

Peihopa pleaded guilty to charges to assault and dangerous driving when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Monday.

He was also prohibited from driving for six months.
