Sophie Monk speaks candidly about sexual harassment

She’s Australia’s sweetheart currently in the throes of romance with her Bachelorette beau, Stu Laundy.

But once upon a time, Sophie Monk was one of the country’s most successful acting exports, with a hot career in Hollywood.

And now, the 37-year-old star has spoken out about sexual harassment in Tinseltown, in the wake of allegations leveraged at Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and other industry power players.

Speaking candidly: Former Hollywood star Sophie Monk spoke with The Herald Sun about sexual harassment in Tinseltown on Sunday 

Speaking with The Herald Sun on Sunday, Sophie candidly talked about her time in La La Land, stating : ‘You definitely get hit on a lot when you shouldn’t. They can be touchy feely and say inappropriate things’.

She added: ‘People can get drunk with the power and the money, and a lot of girls will do things to get roles.’

However, stunning Sophie was quick to clarify she herself was never caught up in the sleazy side of Hollywood, stating that she was confused about the whole process.

‘Like I would not even understand how that would work. Why would you want to employ someone after you have done something with them and then see them the next day?’ the beauty told the publication. 

In the intimate interview, the blonde also claimed that as an actress ‘you have to really respect yourself’ and be ‘strong’.

The Gold Coast born beauty relocated from Australia to Los Angeles in 2005, and had small roles in movies including Click and Murder World.

The comedic star’s breakout role was the spoof film Date Movie, which was released in 2006 and became a box office smash.

However, despite her success, Sophie reveals she has ‘no regret’ about leaving the bright lights of Hollywood behind and returning home.

The star’s professional life is going swimmingly in Australia, having last week been unveiled as the host of Channel Nine’s upcoming reality series Love Island.
