Sophie Monk’s family grill rumoured ‘winner’ Stu Laundy

An emotional Sophie Monk broke down during the The Bachelorette finale on Thursday night when she told her family that rumoured winner Stu Laundy was still married to his first wife.

And after meeting Sophie’s parents and her sisters on Thursday night, the pub baron got a massive grilling from the reality star’s younger sister Lucy.

‘I read that Stu was a bit of a player. That’s a massive comment. I did want to see the way that he would react to being fronted with it,’ Lucy said in a piece to camera.

After meeting Sophie Monk’s  parents and her sisters on Thursday night’s Bachelorette finale, Stu Laundy got a massive grilling from the reality star’s younger sister Lucy.

Confronting Stu away from Sophie and the rest of her clan, it wasn’t long before Lucy dug in the claws.

‘I have read that you’re meant to be “the playboy” of Sydney,’ she told Stu.

The pub baron immediately refuted the claims, saying:  ‘You know what? I… That’s fair enough. But you know what I want to say? You know, I was with one girl for 15 years. and had four kids.

No quarter: Confronting Stu away from Sophie and the rest of her clan, it wasn't long before Lucy dug in the claws with:  'I have read that you're meant to be "the playboy" of Sydney,'

‘I think the toughest question that I get regularly is this playboy image. It sort of annoys me, to be honest. ‘Cause to my friends, it’s laughable. I had a really hard break-up,’ he explained.

Going on to explain that he ‘grabbed the divorce playbook and played it chapter by chapter in a couple of years of being an idiot, basically’ Stu then revealed to Lucy that he was done with his ‘playboy’ ways.

‘If you add up, you know, what I’ve done to chased your sis, they’re not really the moves of a playboy,’ Stu said in his defence.

Still not done with the grilling, Lucy then honed in on Stu’s failed marriage.

‘You had four children with your wife, and obviously things didn’t work out. Why would it be different with Sophie?’ Lucy asked.

That’s a pretty good question, actually,’ Stu replied. ‘The thing I adore about Soph, to be honest with you, is we feel like we’re best friends already. And my ex-wife was…I will always love her, That’s just what happens.’

It appeared that Stu’s answers satisfied Lucy who, in a piece to camera declared: ‘It was really nice to hear Stu speak respectfully about his ex-wife. I think it shows a lot of maturity.’

While Sophie’s mum Sandi seemed concerned about the fact that Stu was still married, after meeting the pub heir her concerns seemed allayed.

‘It was revealing meeting Stu in that I thought the fact that he had been married and had children before was a big deal,’ Sandi said.

‘But in the end I was very impressed with him. I think he really does care about Sophie and, to put himself in this situation, especially when he has family that he’s obviously very protective of – I think that’s wonderful.’

Good choice? 'In the end I was very impressed with him. I think he really does care about Sophie and, to put himself in this situation, especially when he has family that he's obviously very protective of - I think that's wonderful,' Sandi said.
