Sophie Turner stars in first Joan teaser as master of disguise and infamous British diamond thief Joan Hannington for upcoming series

Sophie Turner showed off a new side of herself on Tuesday with the release of the first teaser trailer for her upcoming true-crime series Joan.

The 28-year-old Game Of Thrones actress stars in the six-episode series as the real-life British diamond thief Joan Hannington.

The teaser showcased Turner in a number of strikingly different looks as she showcased the eponymous jewel thief’s numerous disguises.

Turner — who was away in the UK filming Joan as her marriage to Joe Jonas disintegrated — posted the new teaser to her Instagram account on Tuesday, captioning it, ‘Here she comes,’ and adding a diamond emoji.

Viewers in the UK will have an early chance to see the show in September of this year, when it airs on ITV’s streaming platform ITVX, while US-based viewers can catch it on The CW beginning on October 2.

The teaser features numerous shots of Sophie in the dead center of the frame as her piercing gaze is directed right at the camera.

It’s an unusual, fourth-wall-breaking tactic that may help viewers bond with the woman behind all the wigs and makeup.

The lead actress shows off her ability to assume new personas in the opening moments, when she’s seen from behind at a vanity.

The partially undressed thief applies a red feathered wig over her her short, naturally blond hair, and with the addition of some makeup to sculpt her cheek bones, delicate eye shadow and a crimson lip, she is a new person.

The wordless teaser shares little in the way of plot, but a quick shot of Sophie quickly marching down a hallway while sporting a bruised face and a possibly broken nose suggests her life of crime may be an attempt to escape a dangerous background.
