Souled Out announces 2024 artist lineup for festival’s second year with R&B stars Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller to headline the three city event

Souled Out saw a successful January debut in Brisbane this year with a soft launch that saw Kehlani as the headliner.

Now, ‘Australia’s only new wave R&B festival’ will return in March 2024, this time hitting Sydney, Gold Coast and Melbourne, Daily Mail Australia can reveal.

With some huge names gracing the lineup, live music promoter Whatslively has revealed Souled Out could be even more popular than Splendour and Listen Out.

‘Post-announcement, the reaction has objectively been overwhelming,’ Whatslively spokesman Trishanth Chandrahansa told Daily Mail on Friday.

‘The metrics, the flyer without any ads put on it – 50,000 likes. Kids are going crazy over it on TikTok.’

He added: ‘Our post for Souled Out was the most engaged post for any festival that we’ve put out. That’s bigger than Splendour, bigger than Listen Out, any of them.’

Whatslively is a live music discovery platform which has ‘provided a lot of technology and marketing support for this festival’, with Trishanth also acting as a Souled Out co-founder.

Headlining the festival is reigning R&B queen Summer Walker, marking her first visit to Australia.

She’ll be joined by co-headliners PartyNextDoor (Jahron Anthony Brathwaite) and trap soul pioneer Bryson Tiller.

The festival line-up spans different sub-cultures of the genre, like new neo-soul star Smino, AfrobeatsR&B newcomer Libianca, soul R&B singer-songwriter Thuy, and industry staple Tinashe.

World renowned Soulection DJ’s Joe Kay, Andre Power and Sasha will also be performing the best of 90s R&B as a welcome break from the main stage.

Souled Out co-founder Emal Naim said: ‘These artists were specifically chosen because the modern wave of R&B has been on a surge in the last couple years.

‘We haven’t really seen such a thing exist in the country. There’s always been an old school element with old school artists and R&B artists, but there’s never been a modern version of that.

‘I wanted to deliver that to the Australian audience because it was something that was well expected.’

Souled Out tickets will go on pre-sale via the Whatslively app on November 13 at 12:30pm.
