South Africa beat Wales 27-14 in the third and final Test to take the series 2-1 in Cape Town this afternoon.

First half tries from Handre Pollard and Bongi Mbonambi sent the Springboks on their way with the home side looking comfortable at the half time interval, 17-8 in the lead.

Despite a try from Tommy Reffell, Wales left themselves too much to do and South Africa took the series victory after two tightly-contested games earlier this month.

Handre Pollard scored the first try of the game and also clocked three converstions

Despite rejecting early chances for three points, South Africa started fast without being able to break their visitors down.

A penalty did get Rassie Erasmus’ side on the board, but it wasn’t until 14 minutes that Pollard scored the first major points for his team.

Reffell fired back just four minutes later, but Mbonambi went over just before the break to extend the hosts’ lead after Wales had brought things back to 10-8.

Two more Wales penalties dragged the Dragons back into things once again after the break, but Siya Kolisi ran through some poor away defending to take the score to 22-14.

Wales pushed late on for a breakthrough, but there was no way through, and Pollard had time for two more penalties before South Africa celebrated as the full time whistle was blown.
