A person has suffered serious injuries in a shark attack at a popular beach. 

The terrifying incident happened at Westall Way Loop near Streak Bay, around 253 kilometres north-west of the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia around 10.20am on Tuesday.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene at following reports the person was seriously injured.

South Australia police are among first responders at the scene and confirmed the man has sustained major injuries following the shark attack. 

Westall Way Loop is a town located 716 kilometres north-west of Adelaide. 

The area is popular tourist attraction among locals and tourists. 

The site is home to stunning beachside and coastal views including the famous Smooth Pool, High Cliffs, and Ganites.
