South Brisbane: Toddler in critical condition after being hit by a truck while mother was crossing the road

A toddler is in a critical condition after crossing the road with their mum and being hit by a truck.

Paramedics rushed to Browns Plains Road and Webber Drive in South Brisbane at 8.40am on Thursday with reports a mother walking across the road with a stroller had been hit by a truck.

The toddler has sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The mother was not physically injured.

The light-truck’s driver remained at the scene. 

Police have closed the left lane of Browns Plains Road and are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Queensland Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward or those with dashcam footage.
