A Fourth of July fireworks display came early to residents in Fort Mills, South Carolina,  when containers full of the explosive devices caught fire at dawn on Thursday.

Authorities say a blaze broke out in a storage facility behind Davey Jones Fireworks, located just off Interstate 77.

The fire began around 5.45 am and the storage facility is said to have housed ‘dozens of boxes containing fireworks’, according to WCNC.

Fire crews worked for nearly an hour to contain the flames, and simultaneously had to watch out for rogue fireworks that were exploding around them.

Remarkably, there were no reports of injuries.

WCNC reports that several employees were already inside Davey Jones Fireworks preparing for a busy day of trade to mark the Fourth of July.

Investigators are now looking into what sparked the blaze, but they do not suspect it was deliberately lit.

Meanwhile, incredible footage of the event was captured by Twitter user Michael Stechschulte.
