But with no-one around to help, the man is left pinned to the bench and is seen struggling to get out from under the weight of the bar.
Eventually, he manages to slide on side of the bar off his abdomen and onto the floor before wriggling free.
‘I was alone at the gym. I almost died,’ he wrote online alongside the video.
