Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu will miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle
Ralph Hasenhuttl has overseen a poor run of form, his side haven’t won in eight league games
‘Ori Romeu’s season is over. He will have surgery on Monday, which means three months out.
‘He has a fracture on his ankle and definitely the season is over for him.’ Hasenhuttl confirmed during a pre-match press conference.
The Spanish midfielder has clocked up 20 Premier League appearances this season, and his injury is a massive blow for a Southampton side that are without a league win in their last eight games.
Hasenhuttl also confirmed that Takumi Minamino will miss Monday night’s clash at Everton.
Takumi Minamino will miss Saints’ game at Everton on Monday with a hamstring problem
‘Taki has a slight hamstring problem but can maybe come back next week as it’s not a big injury.
‘We rested him from the beginning (at Leeds) because we knew three games in a week would be too much for him having not played much, but then it was very slippery and after his first movement he struggled with his hamstring.
‘He finished the game as we couldn’t change anymore (players), but it’s not perfect. Also Diallo, Kyle Walker-Peters, Theo (Walcott), Obafemi and Smallbone are also injured.’
Southampton are currently 14th in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
