James Marsters is best known for playing hunky bad boy vampire Spike on nineties TV cult classic series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
But on Tuesday, the veteran actor, 61, looked completely unrecognisable from his time on the show, as he appeared on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show.
The California-born actor grew a cult following with his role as an English ‘punk vampire’ in the hugely popular show, co-starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Marsters has now said goodbye to Spike’s trademark platinum blonde hair, which was styled in a punk-rock tousle, and now sports naturally grey locks.
Meanwhile, his hair is no longer short and spiked, and he now rocks a slick styled back grey head of hair which looks world’s away from the villainous vampire he played from 1997 – 2004.

The Smallville star also rocked a much more casual look than he did as Spike, trading the iconic black leather jackets for a plain black tee.
Marsters has clearly aged gracefully, with a more mature look and softened facial features that reflect his years since playing Spike.
However, he still spoke with Spike’s trademark energy and enthusiasm, as he told co-hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies about his memories of filming the show.

‘I loved playing evil! When you’re playing a good guy you’re always running from A to B. When you’re a villain, you just lurk in the shadows,’ James joked.
‘As long as you’re willing to lose the final fight, it is actually a lot easier. I would have killed off Spike in season two!’
Marsters will soon be in Australia for the upcoming Supanova comic convention, and will appear at the Sydney Showground on Saturday and Sunday, and the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre on June 29 and 30.

James played the role of the anti-hero vampire Spike on the hit TV series from 1997 – 2003 and on the spin off Angel from 1999 – 2004.
Since starring in Buffy, James has appeared as Captain John Hart on the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a comedy-drama supernatural TV show that debuted in 1997 and starred Sarah Michelle-Gellar as a teen age vampire killer.
