An award-winning vineyard estate which produces 9,000 bottles a year could be the perfect place for wine-lovers to call home – although they will have to be prepared to build the house themselves.

The prospective buyer of the estate may need a stiff drink to help them stomach to £1.9million asking price. 

Planning permission for a new 8,000 square foot home has already been given to award-winning architects Purcell, who are set to embark on the project.

When complete, the new-build property will boast a four-car garage and workshop, a glass house and around 2,400 sqft of storage cellar below a rear paved courtyard.   

The new cellar will be the perfect place for keep some of the Brut, Rosé and Bacchus made at the on-site winery, along with a variety of other boxes. 

A stunning lake splits the site, which is just 50 minutes from London and five miles outside Colchester.

Estate agents The Modern House have listed the property with an asking price of £1,895,000.
