A sneaky squirrel has been caught on camera firing a slinky at a chipmunk.

In the unbelievable clip filmed in Illinois, US, the pair are gathered around five slinkies and some food, as the squirrel grabs onto one of the retro toys, stretching it as it walks away.

Once it lets go, the slinky pings towards the tiny chipmunk, taking it out with the force of the ricochet.

The woodland creatures seem to be getting on alright as they inspect the slinkies and eat some food

At the start of the clip, the chipmunk was trying to see off the squirrel while he was eating – and it seems that the squirrel had enough of his meal being interrupted.

The inquisitive person behind the recording taped down the toys and placed peanut butter inside them.

Despite expecting them to only play with the slinkies a little, they got a lot more than they bargained for.

They explained that they were incredibly surprised by the astounding video, saying: ‘I almost passed out when I saw it’.

It is not known what happened after the much bigger squirrel took out the much smaller animal.

Chipmunks are known for being quite calm around humans and can often be spotted in gardens scavenging for food.

The cheeky creatures normally live for around two to three years in the wild, and there are 25 species of chipmunk.
