A witness has claimed that security did little to help stop a shocking brawl in a western Sydney bank on Monday afternoon because the participants ‘were girls’.

Extraordinary footage shows a group of up to 15 people throwing punches at each other outside a St George Bank in the Bankstown Central Shopping Centre.

The fight is said to have lasted about 10 minutes as witnesses claim that guards let it drag on until police came.

‘The security was just standing there, they couldn’t help because they were girls fighting but they called the police,’ a witness told Nine News.

It is unclear what sparked the brawl, though witnesses have suggested there was a fight between teenage boys before their mothers got involved.

‘She said “don’t touch my son”,’ another witness, told the network.

Screaming can be heard throughout the footage as the brawl grew to involve the teenage boys’ mothers.

‘I looked up and there was a bunch of yelling, I was shocked at first,’ another witness told 9News.

‘Eventually I was just there in the moment wondering what was going on more than anything else,

‘There were a few females in there, a few mothers getting their hair tied up and everything ready to fight. Just awful.’

At one stage, a woman was knocked to the ground with two others climbing on top of her and appearing to rain down punches.
