Staffordshire Bull Terrier mauls French Bulldog

A dog owner has revealed how her beloved pet was mauled by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier as they enjoyed a stroll along the beach.

Chantelle Hole was walking her three-year-old French bulldog Ralph along Sandbanks beach in Poole, Dorset, when he was savaged by another dog.

The 27-year-old PR worker from London claims it took four people to wrestle with the dog and tear it off Ralph, who was unable to breathe as it clamped its jaws around him and tore the skin back from his neck.

Ms Hole, who is dating London Scottish FC rugby player Ben Mosses, was walking along the Dorset shoreline – often billed as Britain’s Monte Carlo – with her parents.

Ralph pulled through after being taken to the vets but Ms Hole has now shared a Facebook post showing pictures of his injuries and a man she claims is the owner of the other dog, in a bid to appeal for information.

She told MailOnline: ‘I always feel so safe when walking Ralph in Sandbanks as it’s always been home to me, so don’t worry about letting him play with other dogs.

‘He went to play with a Staffy, which as a breed we both adore as we’ve grown up with them.

‘Out of the blue, the dog suddenly went for him and started mauling Ralph at the neck. I heard the other dog growling and it flipped Ralph on his back.

‘He locked onto Ralph’s neck and wouldn’t let go for five minutes, it took me and four others to get the dog off Ralph.

‘Ralph was making the most horrendous noises. It pulled the skin back from Ralph’s neck and its owner just stood there, I think in shock.

‘About 20 people just stood there looking. I picked Ralph up and put him in my gilet then the dog lunged at me.

‘It was so terrifying – the stupid irresponsible owners didn’t know what to do and the poor dog should have been muzzled and never let off the lead.

‘The pictures talk for themselves – but dog walkers in the area please be so careful of this dog and watch out for his owner.’

She added: ‘I paid around £195 in vet’s fees but it’s not about the money.

‘Dorset Police said they cannot do anything about a dog on dog attack, if no human was involved.

‘However as the owner is not cooperating, and will not provide me with his address, the dog warden is unable to go round to visit him.

‘He is not responding to my text messages and the dog warden cannot get through to him on the contact number he provided.

‘I feel a bit helpless. I feel like the police would be able to do much more in this occasion rather than the dog warden.

‘The owner messaged me and saying he doesn’t own the dog, he is just a third party intermediary, even though he was walking the dog on the day of attack.

‘He said that the owner is his ‘female associate’ but neither of them are taking responsibility.’
