Standards inquiry into Keith Vaz is ‘suspended’

A standards inquiry into Keith Vaz and a rent boy was suspended today for ‘medical reasons’. 

The Labour MP has been under investigation for 16 months over allegations he broke the Commons code of conduct by hiring rent boys under a false name.

Mr Vaz resigned as chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee over the scandal, in which he was taped discussing buying cocaine.

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen told The Sun today: ‘If that’s the case and he is too ill to carry out his duties he should stand down as an MP.’ 

Mr Vaz, who is diabetic, appeared in the Commons chamber 10 days ago and was in the voting lobbies last night during debate on Brexit laws.
