Stantonbury School Milton Keynes put on lockdown after student stabbed during fire drill

Schoolboy, 15, is arrested ‘for stabbing classmate with scissors’ as police and ambulance crew rush to school

A secondary school was put on lockdown after a teenage boy was ‘stabbed’ by another teenager during a fire drill.

The student was stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors at Stantonbury International School in Milton Keynes just before 11am today, reports the Milton Keynes Citizen. 

Emergency services were scrambled to the school after parents received calls from their children pleading with them to take them home. 

Mothers and fathers congregated outside the school after ambulances and police cars rushed to the school.  

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The school said in a statement: ‘A student in Stantonbury International School has been assaulted by another student during a fire drill.’ 

Staff have now said pupils are safe and have returned to lessons.   

The school said senior staff had acted quickly to ‘gather as full and accurate a picture of the event itself and the motivation for and context of it’.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman added: ‘At 10.55am officers were called to Stantonbury International School, Milton Keynes following an incident in which a boy received a small puncture wound to his back. At this stage his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

‘A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and he remains in custody at this time.

Superintendent Marc Tarbit, LPA Commander for Milton Keynes, also said: ‘Officers are investigating this incident in which a boy has been injured.

‘We have made an arrest and we are carrying out further enquiries.

‘Officers are on scene and we are working closely with the school to offer support to them and pupils and parents at the school.’

‘Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence whilst our enquiries continue.’

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman told MailOnline: ‘We were contacted by Thames Valley Police at 10:57 who informed us of an assault at Stantonbury Campus in Milton Keynes. 

‘We sent an ambulance and a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle to the school. One patient with a minor injury has been taken to Milton Keynes Hospital for further treatment and assessment.’
