There have already been two sets of Star Wars trilogies and fans are already very much pulled into a third one.
And now Disney and Lucasfilm have announced there will be a whole new set of Star Wars trilogies, these set in another galaxy with new characters, meaning Kylo Ren, Rey and Luke Skywalker won’t be involved.
And the man overseeing it all is The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson, according to Deadline.

He is set ‘to write and direct a trilogy of films that will fall under the Star Wars brand but will be a completely new story, with original characters, set in a different galaxy,” it was revealed.
Disney chief Bob Iger just unveiled the plan to analysts during the company’s call to discuss its full-year and Q4 2017 earnings.
George Lucas created the original characters Han Solo, Princess Leia, Skywalker , Darth Vader, Yoda and Chewbacca as well as R2-D2 and C-3PO.

He also introduced Jar Jar Binks and Queen Amidala in his second trilogy.
JJ Abrams successfully brought in Rey, Finn, Po and BB-8 with The Force Awakens.
It will be interesting to see what the new trilogy will offer.
There will most likely have a bad guy and a crop of young, good people trying to fight him.

And there may even be a parallel Force.
For now the new trilogy is veiled in secrecy.
Johnson will be working with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman. They produced Looper and Brick.

Johnson seems well liked by Disney and Lucasfilm. On The Last Jedi, which comes out in the US on December 15, he was given solo credit.
That’s a first on a Star Wars film since creator Lucas did on episodes I through IV, claimed Deadline.
Other Star Wars films include the already released Rogue One, plus a Bobba Fett spinoff, the Han Solo spinoff.
There will also be one more Star Wars film, IX, which comes out in 2019 with Abrams as director.
