Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker nabs $35 million on Christmas Day making it the second highest earner after 2015’s The Force Awakens

The stars just carry on aligning for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Industry estimates show it came in at No. 1 at the Christmas Day box office with $35 million, the second best take ever.

That puts it behind only fellow franchisee The Force Awakens, which raked in $49.3 million in 2015.

And it beat 2017’s The Last Jedi, which nabbed $27.4 million

However its six-day total of $261 million is likely to fall short of The Last Jedi’s, according to Deadline. 

Jumanji: The Next Level swung into second place with $12.5 million, for a local gross of just under $129 million.

That repeats Christmas 2017, when Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle came in second to The Last Jedi.

The Top 5 at the five-day box office looks a little different.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Sky walker and Jumanji: The Next Level continue at No 1 and 2 with $160 million and $69 million respectively.

Frozen 2 iced the competition taking $24 million for third place. It has earner almost $400 million domestically and a stunning $1.1 billion globally since its release.

Knives Out sliced a $20 million chunk of cash to earn fourth place and Little Women came in fifth with $24 million.
