Stars pay tribute to Jessica Falkholt’s passing

Pia Miller, Deni Hines and Julie Snook have led celebrity tributes to Home And Away star Jessica Falkholt following the news of her tragic death on Wednesday. 

Taking to Twitter, Deni Hines, 47, wrote: ‘My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of #JessicaFalkholt. This is such a sad situation.’

The 28-year-old actress was pronounced dead on Wednesday, six days after her family made the heartbreaking decision to switch off her life support following a horror Boxing Day car crash on the New South Wales south coast, that also claimed the lives of her parents and younger sister.

Jessica had been in a critical condition in Sydney’s St George Hospital since the accident.

Singer-songwriter Deni shared to Twitter: ‘My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of #JessicaFalkholt. This is such a sad situation. I’m sending my Love and light to the 1 remaining Brother and his family and friends.’

Former Home And Away actress Pia Miller, 34, posted to Instagram alongside a casting shot of Jessica: ‘Farewell wonderful Jess,’ alongside a love heart emoji. 

Channel Nine journalist Julie Snook meanwhile wrote: ‘My heart goes out to the Falkholt family and Jessica’s friends and colleagues. A devastating loss.’ 

Sydney’s St George Hospital announced the sad news of Jessica’s death in a statement on Wednesday.

‘On behalf of the family of Jessica Falkholt, St George Hospital has been asked to advise the media and the community of Jessica’s passing today at 10.20am,’ the hospital said in a statement.

‘Jessica passed away from serious injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on 26 December, 2017. The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time.’

The actress was pulled from the wreckage with her sister Annabelle near Ulladulla, but her parents Lars and Vivian died at the scene.

Annabelle, 21, died from her injuries three days after the head-on crash which has now claimed the lives of the family-of-four.

The driver of the 4WD that slammed into the family’s car, 50-year-old habitual traffic offender Craig Whitall, was reportedly travelling home from a Nowra methadone clinic when he too was killed in the crash. 

Last Thursday following the news of her life support being switched off, Jessica’s former Home And Away colleagues expressed their gratitude for their time together.  

Jackson Heywood posted a lengthy heartfelt post: ‘Jess. I will always remember our beautiful long-winded chats about life, acting, philosophy, relationships and especially over-thinking,’ alongside a photo of himself, Jessica and Isabella Giovinazzo.

The 29-year-old continued: ‘If you’re lucky enough in life to meet a handful of people, or even just one – that when you look at them in the eye, and without words just know they understand you, and you them – you are just so deeply lucky.’

Fellow stars of the long-running Channel Seven soap, commented on the touching post, with Lynne McGranger writing ‘so very sad’, while Jake Ryan simply added a heart emoji.

Anna Cocquerel shared her condolences on Instagram, uploading a photo of Jessica on her Story.

The actress drew several hearts on the image and wrote ‘Thinking of you’.

Meanwhile, Australian actor Anthony Hayes tweeted: ‘Jessica Falkholt. Sweetest girl. So full of life. Heart breaks.’
