Stella McCartney puts on a stylish display in a white shirt and linen shorts as she explores Venice with her husband Alasdhair Willis

She’s a world famous fashion designer who launched her eponymous luxury brand in 2001.

And Stella McCartney showed off her style credentials on Saturday, as she stepped out in Venice with her husband Alasdhair Willis.

The British fashion designer, 51, looked sophisticated and summery as she explored the city in a neutral toned ensemble.

She opted for a pair of beige linen shorts teamed with a white button-up shirt and black strappy sandals.

Stella added a pop of colour to her outfit by toting a bright orange and cream bag and hid her eyes behind black sunglasses.

Her husband Alasdhair cut a laidback figure in a navy blue plain T-shirt and a pair of dark grey shorts.

He added a dark blue blazer over the top and a pair of casual white trainers, while sporting black shades.

The married couple recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last month.

The daughter of Sir Paul McCartney and his late first wife, Linda, tied the knot with the publisher at Mount Stuart House in August 2003.

They share four children together, sons Miller Alasdhair James and Beckett Robert Lee, as well as daughters Bailey Linda Olwyn and Reiley Dilys Stella.

Stella’s Italian getaway comes after she received backlash for a fashion shoot featuring model Kendall Jenner naked on a horse for her new Winter 2023 campaign.

Speaking about hiring Kendall for the campaign, Stella said: ‘I knew this season’s Stella girl had to love horses as much as I do.

‘Kendall has been riding since she was a kid, just like me, and has her own ranch; you can see how at ease she is around these sensitive creatures, and them with her.

‘Capturing this connection brings Horse Power to life, both through the fashion and the vision.’

However, animal rights campaigners complained that her multi-million-pound Horse Power ads exploited the animals.

Stella hit back at critics, telling friends the ad campaign was a tribute to her mother, Linda, who loved horses.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘The collection was initially inspired by Stella’s late mother, Linda, who was a lifelong horse lover and introduced Stella and her siblings to caring for these animals.’

The horses used in the ads were Spanish pure-bloods, known as Andalusians, which bear a striking resemblance to Appaloosas, the US breed her mother loved.

The horse’s owner, Jean-Francois Pignon, also added that Stella ‘put the horses first’ during the fashion shoot.

He said: ‘My horses respond to love and respect. Stella put the horses first. She and Kendall were empathetic and I could tell they both felt very comfortable around them.

‘When I asked for a break to feed or water them, Stella immediately agreed. No animal was exploited or harmed. It was a peaceful and harmonious shoot where the horses were number one.’
