Stephen King bans Trump from watching new movie, TV show

After claiming he was blocked from reading Donald Trump’s tweets, Stephen King is finally dishing out just deserts by blocking Trump from watching his newest TV series and movie.

The horror novel master — no stranger to the concept of revenge — tweeted, ‘Donald Trump blocked me on Twitter. I am hereby blocking him from seeing IT or MR. MERCEDES. No clowns for you, Donald.’

King, 69, capped off the attention-grabbing Thursday night tweet with an ‘It’ reference, encouraging Trump, 71, to ‘Go float yourself.’

The latest film adaptation of King’s ‘It,’ his 1986 horror novel about a killer clown that terrorizes children, hits theaters on September 8. The TV series adaptation of King’s detective novel, ‘Mr. Mercedes,’ starring Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, currently airs on Audience.

King fans flocked to the tweet to show their support for the novelist’s statement, liking it about 214,000 times and retweeting it 63,000 times.

Some fans saw King’s tweet as an opportunity to poke fun at the president by inserting Trump into new ‘It’ footage, particularly as a stand-in for killer clown Pennywise.

One fan replied to King’s tweet with a meme that inserted Trump into the sewer scene from the ‘It’ adaptation, captioning it with a Trump syntax-heavy, ‘We all float down here. It’s spectacular. You’re not going to believe how great you float down here. It’s tremendous.’

Meanwhile, another fan urged fellow tweeters to check out a parody clip created by Evil Ice Cream Pictures, which placed Trump into the ‘It’ remake’s actual movie trailer.

In the video’s description, the parody trailer makers noted that they were inspired to create the Trump version because they ‘thought it was funny when georgie says “you’ll float too” and then realized how close that was to “You are fake news.”‘

King has been notably critical of Trump, frequently taking to Twitter to denounce the president’s actions.

In May, King tweeted that the president’s first 100 days in office painted the ‘clear portrait’ that Trump is ‘an almost textbook case of narcissistic personality disorder.’

King, who notably wrote ‘The Shining’ and ‘Misery,’ immediately followed that tweet with another one stating, ‘That this guy has his finger on the nuclear trigger is worse than any horror story I ever wrote.’

On June 13, King tweeted that Trump had blocked him from reading his tweets. ‘I may have to kill myself,’ King snarked.

King is one of several notable people — along with Chrissy Teigen and Marina Sirtis — that Trump appeared to have blocked from having access to his tweets, a move leading some experts to argue might be a violation of free speech.

Being blocked from viewing Trump’s Twitter feed hasn’t stopped King from continuing to criticize the president, though.

On August 18, King tweeted, ‘Trump’s tweets and press conferences are the work of a gravely disordered mind.’

That tweet went out three days after Trump’s controversial infrastructure press conference in which he doubled down on his original post-Charlottesville remarks, where he seemingly equated neo-nazis with anti-racism protesters.

And on August 21, the day of the eclipse, King tweeted, ‘Re Trump: There ain’t no cure for dumb.’

It is unclear exactly how King plans to stop the president from watching either of the two projects.
