Steve Smith put on one of the greatest innings in Big Bash League history as the Australian superstar blasted 125 runs to help Sydney Sixers put on a monster total at the SCG.

The 33-year-old, having hit a century on his BBL return against the Adelaide Strikers, picked up where he left off in the huge Saturday night clash against arch rivals the Thunder.

The match was billed as a big match-up between Smith and Test teammate David Warner, playing for the Thunder, but Warner could only stand and admire as Smith gave his team the runaround.

Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket: ‘He’s just put an absolute clinic here tonight … some sort of display tonight.

‘He’s turned into the Hulk tonight.’

No Sixers player had ever hit a century in their 12-year existence prior to Smith’s return. He’s now hit two in a matter of days.
