Steve Smith’s fiance Dani Willis is the perfect WAG

Steve Smith’s fiance Dani Willis has revealed what life is really like for cricket’s ‘number one WAG’.

The 26-year-old accepted Smith’s marriage proposal in June while on a short visit to New York between the Aussie cricket captain’s busy match schedules.

But while on social media the pair’s life may seem glamorous, Ms Willis revealed to the Daily Telegraph there’s a lot of work that goes into being the ‘perfect WAG’.

Since the pair got engaged Ms Willis graduated from a commerce-law degree and landed a spot at a Sydney firm all while accompanying Smith on a number of local and international tours, including the recent Ashes campaign.

Though social and outgoing, Ms Willis has been able to cater to Smiths almost robotic routine.

Ms Willis said while on a recent trip to Dubai, the pair stayed in the same hotel room for almost a month.

‘And honestly, of those 22 nights we ate room service for dinner for 20,’ she said.

‘But that’s Steve, you know. He likes to bunker down.’

The newly engaged couple plan to marry in Sydney in September, but finding a day they are both free might be a struggle.

‘I need to have a chat with Pat Howard (Australian team cricket manager) about an exact date because there isn’t a lot of availability,’ Willis said.

‘People often don’t realise how long the cricket year is.

‘He’s (Smith) away for around 300 days of the year.’

Smith will pad up again on Boxing day as the Aussies face England at the MCG, and Ms Willis will no doubt be in the crowd cheering him on.
