And now grime artist Stormzy, 24, has walked away with three coveted MOBOs from Wednesday’s ceremony at Leeds’ First Direct Arena.
The British rapper bagged himself Best Male, Best Album and Best Grime Act at the 22nd Mobo Awards and was in good company in the winner’s lounge as actor Idris Elba and singer Stefflon Don also picked up honours.

In jovial spirits after his win, Stormzy beamed as he posed backstage with his three statues in his ribbed black jumper while his other half Maya Jama presented the show.
The rap artist – who hails from Croydon – has enjoyed incredible success in 2017 as he made his way into the mainstream with his chart-topping album Gang Signs and Prayer and also with his top 10 smash, Big For Your Boots.
Following Stormzy’s winning streak, acclaimed British actor Idris Elba took home the Paving The Way award – which has previously been won by Miss Dynamite and Nicola Adams.
The Mountain Between Us star looked effortlessly cool as he picked up his honour in a statement double breasted coat with faux fur lapels.

While the night was dominated by male winners, British rapper and singer Stefflon Don accepted her award for Best Female Act.
Looking sensational, the Birmingham native picked up the honour in a striking pair of chaps and cutout bodysuit while her statement purple locks cascaded over her shoulder.
The 26-year-old music star – who also performed on the night – couldn’t contain her excitement after she picked up her honour and posed with it backstage.
Other music star who took home awards were J Hus who won Best Song for his track Did You See and Giggs who won Best Hip Hop Act while South Londoner Dave won Best Newcomer.
While Mist picked up Best Video, Wizkid for Best International Act and Craig David nabbed his sixth MOBO for Best R&B/Soul Act.
Elsewhere, Damian Marley was named Best Reggae Act, Moses Boyd took home Best Jazz Act, Davido won Best African Act, and Volney Morgan & New-Ye won Best Gospel Act.

Maya will take to the stage in Leeds to help run the 2017 Mobos, and will be the youngest to have ever hosted the biggest awards in Urban music. The awards first began 22 years ago, and Maya is just 23.

He will compete with J Hus and Mercury Prize-winner Sampha for best male and best album while actor and DJ Idris Elba is to be honoured with a Paving The Way gong for his ‘achievements in the arts and contribution to British culture’.
A paving stone will be embedded at a location in London, where the Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom star grew up.
Maya is hosting alongside Marvin Humes, whose former band JLS have been Mobo recipients.
Humes said: The MOBOs have been a huge part of my life, I’ve been lucky enough to attend, perform and win over the years so now to be back as a host alongside Maya Jama is a huge honour.
Other stars expected to attend the event include rapper Wiley, shortlisted for best grime act, model Jourdan Dunn, and comedian Michael Dapaah – the man behind Big Shaq’s Mans Not Hot.
