A new trend is taking social media by storm – and it’s very messy.
The trend dominating the newsfeeds of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube is called the ‘Straight Arm Challenge’ and involves challengers trying to have a drink without bending their arm.
In the videos, pranksters are seen holding drinks above their head and keeping their arm straight.
Because they can’t bend their elbow the pranksters struggle to get the beverage in their mouth.
While it might not sound tricky, the only option is to hold the arm out straight above your head and aim the drink at 90 degrees into your mouth – meaning it spills everywhere.
One daredevil goes out in the snow and attempts to do the challenge with a bottle of fizz, wearing just a t-shirt.
Another joker attempts to do the challenge with her father, but it backfires and he ends up pouring his drink on her instead.

Popular YouTuber Kristen Hanby has taken the challenge to the extreme, filming with his friend Jessie.
In the clip, which has racked up 22 million views, Kristen challenges his friends to straight arm challenges – daring them to drink fizzy drinks, milk and even mouthwash.

At one point, Kristen tells his friend Jessie to undertake the challenge while she appears to be getting dressed.

The clip then cuts to the pair having a beer in a pub when Jessie turns the tables where Kristen tells him to ‘Yo loser, straight arm that s***’.
He downs a pint of beer, spilling lots of himself and the bench he’s sat on, before he’s told that it was the wrong drink, and he should down the jug as well.
In other parts of the video, the pair continue to dare each other to do silly challenges including downing a gallon of milk and finishing off a soft drink in a restaurant.
