Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery wraps filming New Zealand-based supernatural thriller Went Up the Hill

He’s one of Australia’s most promising acting exports.

And Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery is returning to screens in a new film shot entirely in New Zealand.

The 28-year-old has recently wrapped filming ghost thriller Went Up the Hill alongside Cannes award winner Vicky Krieps, 40.

The film, by New Zealand director Samuel Van Grinsven, tells the tale of how Jack (Montgomery) travels to New Zealand to attend the funeral of his estranged mother after being abandoned as a child.

There, he meets her grieving widow Jill (Krieps).

Things take a terrifying turn when his mother’s ghost returns to possess both Jack and Jill’s bodies, using them as hosts to carry out her bidding.

‘It’s thrilling to have Vicky and Dacre embodying these uniquely challenging characters,’ Van Grinsven said of the casting.

‘As two bold artists I admire, it’s an honour to now be crafting this haunting story alongside them,’ he added.
