A 15-year-old has been arrested after a shooting at Atlantis Beach Baptist College in Perth’s north last Wednesday

Monday’s scare comes after a school shooting at Atlantis Beach Baptist College, in Perth‘s north, last Wednesday.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with seven alleged offences, including three counts of unlicensed possession of a firearm/ammunition, discharged a firearm in a manner to cause fear, and unlawful act or admission with intent to harm.

It’s been revealed the boy was only 50 metres away when he allegedly opened fire on the classroom from the school car park.

He allegedly fired three bullets from a rifle, two of which struck the classroom.

One entered the building about 1.5metres from the ground and exited at the same height.

The gunfire prompted students and staff to hide inside cupboards and under desks until police arrived on scene.

It’s alleged the boy stole two rifles from his father’s gun safe, along with 60 rounds of ammunition, before driving to the school.

He appeared at Perth Children’s Court on Friday morning via video link and will reappear on Tuesday.

He is being held at Banksia Detention Centre.

The shooting has prompted the state government to tighten Western Australia’s gun laws.
