  • The animal snaffles the morsels of fruit and wags its tongue and licks its lips
  • One shocked viewer joked: ‘they eat ladies in red sweaters too’
  • Grizzlies are known to guzzle a variety of foods including berries, seeds and elk

This is the unbelievable moment a fearless woman feeds strawberries to a giant grizzly bear which is laying beside her.

The pair happily cosy up to each other in the snow as the animal snaffles the morsels of fruit and wags its tongue and licks its lips.

And the bear’s friend is clearly unfazed by the animals’ terrifying reputation – highlighted by one shocked viewer who joked: ‘they eat ladies in red sweaters too’.

The unknown woman then takes whole strawberries from a bowl and calmly pops them directly into the bear’s mouth

The video taken by the equally gutsy cameraman shows the woman lying on a rug on top of a patch of snow on the outskirts of a nearby forest.

Beside her sits the brown grizzly with has its paws outstretched in front of it, giving us full view of the creature’s long sharp claws.

Grizzly bears are omnivores known to have a varied and plentiful diet including seeds, berries, roots, grasses, fungi, deer, elk, fish, dead animals and insects.

In the autumn when they preparing to bulk up for the winter, they can guzzle enough calories to put on more than pounds each day.

However, the creatures are known to be solitary animals which rarely seek the company of other bears, let alone humans.

The threatened species, which weigh up 850lbs and grow up to three-and-a-half feet have killed humans in the past.

They are native to parts of northern Asia and North America where one killed a mother and her ten-month-old baby in Canada last November.
