Two cars have been covered with angry messages scrawled on its windows in a bizarre parking protest.

Laura Cleaver, 28, was stunned to find her Fiat 500, which she parked by a dropped kerb, covered white marker on the window on Tuesday, August 6.

This mother-of-two was out with her two-year-old son and his great-grandmother, said she parked her car just after 11am on Marston Road, Sutton Coldfield near the Chester Road Station.

They returned less than three hours later to find warnings on the front and passenger windows of the vehicle that read: ‘There is a parking notice for a reason! Expect parking fine, Thanks’.

Another said: ‘No parking by dropped kerb’ and ‘Did you see the parking notice?’

Ms Cleaver – who reported the matter to West Midlands Police – said she parked by the sloping part of a dropped kerb and was not blocking any access.

She said: ‘I was embarrassed. A small crowd had formed. I was intimidated and shocked. I didn’t expect it to happen.

‘I was out with my two-year-old and my husband’s nan, who is in her 80s. I got out and checked where I had parked when I got there. It wasn’t blocking any driveways.

The passenger windows of her car also had angry messages: ‘Did you see the parking notice?’ and ‘No parking by dropped kerb’

‘I had gone on the train in to Birmingham. It was around 11.15am. I got back around 2pm. What I did wasn’t illegal. The parking wasn’t out of order.

‘I live in Streetly, next to a school and people park badly but you expect people to park there. I have reported online to the police.’

Ms Cleaver cleaned her car windows with wet wipes and said the nature of the messages had upset her and her family.

‘I would have apologised if it had just been a note,’ she said.

Less than a week later Ms Cleaver said she was told that another car, a red Audi A1, that parked on the same street had been wrapped in cling film and a message on the windscreen, on Monday, August 12.

That message read: ‘Parking notice health + safety,’ and ‘car wrapped to protect from damage from deliveries’.

Marston Road residents said the two incidents were not isolated.

One householder said she had often gone out with a cloth or scissors to help motorists who had suffered similar treatment.
