Streets re-release favourite 2002 Bionic Bubble Gum treat

  • The iconic bubble gum flavour is back on shelves after 15 years
  • Fans pleaded for its return after Caramel Choc Dip was brought back in May
  • But Streets said the throwback item was only back for a limited time

One of Australia’s favourite summertime treats of the noughties has made a resurgence to supermarket shelves after a 15-year-long hiatus.

Since disappearing in 2002, Streets’ Paddle Pop Bionic Bubble Gum flavour ice cream has been sorely missed, leaving fans pleading for its return.

But the ice cream brand answered the calls of gum-flavoured-ice cream-deprived individuals on Thursday— announcing the triumphant comeback of the much-loved flavour.

Nostalgic fans can now get their hands back on the aesthetically swirled blue and white dairy sweet, with it finally re-stocked in stores around the country.

After disappearing in 2002, Streets’ Paddle Pop Bionic Bubble Gum flavour ice cream has made a triumphant comeback to supermarket shelves around the country

The tasty delight’s revival comes after strong demand following the re-release of its chocolate cousin, Caramel Choc Dip, in May.

The aggressive appeals from ice-cream lovers were too strong to ignore, according to Streets Marketing Manager, Scott Mingl.

‘It wasn’t out of the blue that Bionic Bubble Gum was the next old favourite Paddle Pop to re-release,’ he revealed in a statement.

‘Ever since Caramel Choc Dip hit the shelves we’ve had a ridiculous number of requests to bring Bionic Bubble Gum back too.’

‘We can’t wait for Paddle Pop lovers to take a trip down memory lane and share them with younger generations too.’

But the company warns fans of the creamy treat shouldn’t waste time on getting their hands on the throwback item, saying it’s only back for a limited time.

‘Grab your mates and beat the heat 2002 style because Bionic Bubble Gum Paddle Pop is back, but for a limited time only.’
