Strictly’s Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice brush off savage ‘second best’ dig on Saturday Kitchen

Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice graciously brushed off a savage dig during an appearance on Saturday Kitchen.

The professional dancers had joined presenter Matt Tebutt on the BBC daytime show to discuss their new series Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily.

However, the pair were subject to a cheeky swipe from Matt as he, alongside wine expert Ollie Smith, introduced Anton and Giovanni as ‘the second best bromance on TV’ – while gesturing that they themselves were the best.

Matt said: ‘We’ve got a rollercoaster ride of show with this lot in the studio. Literally anything could happen, because this is Saturday Kitchen Live

‘Our special guests today have delivered some of the most memorable Strictly moments ever, but they’ve swapped the ballroom for Sicily, in the second best bromance on TV – please welcome Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice.’

At this, a confused Anton, 56, and Giovanni, 32, looked at each other in alarm as they uttered: ‘Second best?’ while the audience cheered around them.

To which Matt replied: ‘Second best my friends’, while tapping Ollie’s chest, with Ollie then adding: “What defines a bromance though, that’s the question?’

Clearly not impressed at being classed second best, Giovanni then gestured to Matt and Ollie asking: ‘Is this the first one?’, to which they both responded: ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah.’

Defending his bromance, Anton then cheekily remarked: ‘You can’t be the second best unless you have seen them in their budgie smugglers.’

To which Matt said of the dancers: ‘we have’, while Anton confirmed: ‘We spend a lot of time together in Speedos.’

After laughing off Matt’s cheeky swipe, the duo went on to talk in detail about their travel show, which first aired on March 21 as part of the cooking show.

Going on to talk of his friendship with Giovanni, Anton shared: ‘The show is about our relationship, which is the thing that came across for me.

‘I watched the first show the other evening with Hannah, and I got a warm feeling about it. It was a lovely sort of show of us together.’

Say what? However, the pair were subject to a cheeky swipe from Matt as he, alongside wine expert Ollie Smith, introduced Anton and Giovanni as 'the second best bromance on TV' - while gesturing that they themselves were the best

The Strictly dancer turned judge added: ‘The shows grow over the next couple of weeks, but without giving any spoilers away, we have a lot of fun with it all.’

Referencing their earlier bromance joke, Ollie then chimed in: ‘It is a bromance. It’s a real deal, excellent bromance.’

With Italian hunk Giovanni replying: ‘There’s a lot of love.’

Echoing the sentiment, his pal then gushed: ‘There’s a lot of love. I absolutely love him to death.’

It comes after Giovanni left fans hot under the collar as he stripped to just his towel on his new travel show with Anton on Tuesday.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni and show judge Anton left the UK behind to visit Giovanni’s home country of Italy for Giovanni And Anton: Adventures In Sicily on BBC One, which aired on BBC One.

Twinkle-toed star Giovanni was seen giving Anton a tour of the island where he grew up, Sicily, with the pair checking into a beautiful hotel during their stay.

And when Anton went to greet Giovanni the morning after their arrival, Giovanni opened his room door wearing nothing but a white towel.
