Waltzing home for Christmas! Strictly’s JJ Chalmers is reunited with his wife and children after 10 weeks
His Strictly Come Dancing dreams may have ended, but for JJ Chalmers there was one huge consolation.
After ten weeks in the show’s Covid-19 bubble, he could finally be reunited with his wife and two children.
And the 32-year-old former Royal Marine, who was badly injured by a bomb in Afghanistan nine years ago, was clearly delighted as he returned home to Scotland on Tuesday.

An emotional Chalmers swept daughter Hayley, four, and son James, one, into his arms before embracing wife Kornelia.
‘It is just incredible to be home and it is exactly what I wanted it to be,’ he told the Mail. ‘I came in the door, dropped my bags, lay down on the floor and both the kids just jumped on top of me, that’s all I wanted.
‘They both remember me, which has been lovely but it’s also very surreal. It’s very surreal to be back in the real world, like I’ve just been living in this bubble.
‘Even just being out in the shops and being in what should be familiar surroundings, they’re not!

Overjoyed: ‘It is just incredible to be home and it is exactly what I wanted it to be,’ he told the Mail
‘I’ve been away from them for a long time, so it is weird but at its heart it’s the best thing ever.’
TV presenter Chalmers, a friend of Prince Harry, missed out on a place in this Saturday’s Strictly semi-final after he and professional partner Amy Dowden, 30, were voted out.
The previous week he was left struggling with his emotions after he was played a video of Hayley dancing along at home to his performance.
In the first week of the series he was sent a message in which Kornelia said: ‘You are making us very, very proud.’
Hayley added: ‘Hi daddy, I like your dancing so much. I love you.’
