Strip club boss bans Senator Lidia Thorpe from Maxine’s Gentlemen’s Club in Melbourne over 3am row

Senator Lidia Thorpe has been banned for life by a Melbourne strip club over her late night foul-mouthed spray and told in an official letter: ‘You are no longer welcome’.

The former Greens politician has been warned not to ’cause further embarrassment’ in the letter – seen by Daily Mail Australia – after she screamed obscenities outside Maxine’s Gentlemen’s Club.

Senator Thorpe was filmed unleashing an extraordinary spray on a group of men outside the Brunswick club at 3am on Sunday, telling one: ‘You’ve got a small penis’ and another ‘you’re marked’ in a menacing tone.

David Ross, general manager of Maxine’s, told Daily Mail Australia that Senator Thorpe’s behaviour was ‘just unacceptable’ and that she has been banned for life from the establishment.

In a letter sent to Senator Thorpe’s parliamentary email address on Monday morning, and shared with the Mail, Mr Ross blasts the bizarre behaviour of the outspoken activist for Indigenous affairs.

‘I write to you regarding your attendance at Maxine’s Gentlemen’s Club on Saturday evening, and the incident outside the venue after closing at 3am,’ it reads.

‘Maxine’s Gentlemen’s Club is a local Brunswick club which prides itself on providing a relaxed environment and fostering harmony between patrons of all genders and from all ethnic and religious backgrounds; a fact the staff and dancers are very proud of.

‘With this in mind, and after reviewing security footage and speaking with staff and security, I have to inform you that you are no longer welcome at Maxine’s Gentlemen’s Club.

‘Please do not attempt to enter the venue in future, as being refused entry may cause further embarrassment.’

Mr Ross told Daily Mail Australia bouncers had kept a close eye on the Greens defector throughout the evening because she was ‘a bit argumentative’ during the wild night out with friends.

‘One of our security guards said they thought she (Senator Thorpe) was going to be trouble because she was going up to white men in the crowd and telling them that they’d stolen her land,’ he said.

‘I have never seen a racist-inspired problem in our club before. We have people from all nationalities coming into the club.

‘I like to say that adult entertainment has universal appeal – it doesn’t matter what background you come from, it’s all entertaining. But she’s not welcome.’

He added: ‘We are a local club – we are more like a local bar than a strip joint – there just happens to be scantily-clad women walking around.

‘We are a very local club and we don’t welcome this type of behaviour at all.’

Mr Ross said he did not believe Senator Thorpe had previously visited Maxine’s – which describes itself as the ‘hottest Melbourne strip club north of the CBD’.

Footage of the incident shows Senator Thorpe pointing her finger at the men in a heated exchange.

At one stage, Senator Thorpe walks up to one of the men and says in a menacing tone ‘you, you are marked’.

One of them calls her a ‘racist dog’ to which she responds ‘f*** you’ before a friend holds her back.’

She tells the men: ‘All I want to say to the black brothers there and anyone that we’re fighting…

‘Any black man that stands with the f***ing white little c*** like that – yous (sic) can all get f***ed too!’

One of the men asks: ‘How the f**** does someone get in parliament like you?’

She hits back: ‘We’ve been repressed all our f***ing life in this country and you let this little dog speak…’

A member of the group told 7News that the senator was ‘out of control’.

Mr Ross said he had reviewed the footage of the extraordinary spray on the club’s security cameras and had spoken to staff working on the night.

‘She was very animated and argumentative,’ he said.

‘I think to the credit of our punters who were out the front, they didn’t get aggressive and they were trying to settle the situation.’

However, Mr Ross said although the Senator had been drinking she was ‘not intoxicated’ and was not asked to leave. He said the confrontation blew up as the venue closed at 3pm.

Senator Thorpe, who was out for a 50th birthday party with a group of three friends, had earlier told 7News that she was provoked and harassed by the men.

‘It’s sad people are utilising whatever they can to drag me down when we’re trying to discuss important issues in this country,’ she told the network.

Daily Mail Australia has asked Senator Thorpe’s office for comment on the claims she was the one provoking punters.

Ms Thorpe has also come under fire from Labor-supporting advertising boss and TV personality Dee Madigan who attacked the senator’s sexist insults.

‘This ‘small d***’ stuff has to stop. It’s not ok whoever says it. It’s body shaming,’ she tweeted on Monday. ‘We would not be okay with women being described like that.’

Independent senator Jacqui Lambie has also blasted senator Thorpe and warned: ‘You cannot keep doing this.’

‘A good start would be [to] take the responsibility for your own actions and take them into your own hands,’ she told Sky News.

‘There is no getting out of this, you are a politician. Sometimes we do muck up but not taking any responsibility for yourself is not very helpful.’

Senator Lambie said the Victorian senator should seek counselling if she wasn’t in a good way, as ‘something needs to be done’.

Senator Thorpe was forced to quit as deputy leader of the Greens in the Senate after she failed to disclose her relationship with former bikie boss, Dean Martin, while serving on a committee which looked into bikie gangs.

She was also forced to unreservedly apologise after interjecting during a parliamentary debate with the line ‘at least I keep my legs shut’, which was allegedly directed at Liberal senator Hollie Hughes.

In February, Senator Thorpe caused a scene at Sydney’s Mardi Gras parade when she laid down in front of a float after screaming ‘f*** the police’.

Last month, she disrupted a ‘Let Woman Speak’ event outside Parliament House in Canberra held by controversial women’s rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull.

Draped in an Aboriginal flag, Senator Thorpe made a beeline towards Ms Keen-Minshull, before she was intercepted and taken down by police.

She crawled along the lawn and made her way toward a group of more than 100 pro-trans counter-protesters.

The independent ‘black sovereignty’ movement senator later claimed she was ‘pulverised’ by police and said Ms Keen-Minshull – who she referred to as ‘filth’ – should not be allowed to speak on Aboriginal land.
