Student teacher, 21, reveals the outfits that earned her DRESS CODE violations at work

A 21-year-old student teacher has revealed the outfits that got her ‘dress-coded’ at the school where she works — and commenters are shocked and confused.

Meimei, who goes by @meimonstaa on social media, is in her last semester of college and is currently student teaching in an elementary school special education program in the US

But it appears that some administrators at the school are unimpressed with her style, and have already taken issue with her ‘inappropriate’ outfits four times this semester.

Baffled, Meimei has shared TikTok videos documenting what she wears to work, including the offending outfits — and commenters are outraged her on behalf, arguing that there is nothing wrong with her clothing choices and that she is simply being targeted because she is young.

‘I’m a student teacher and I’ve been getting dress coded a lot,’ Meimei said in a recent video.

The TikToker has shared several clips of her clothing choices, and last week posted a roundup of everything she’s been wearing to school lately, making the point that it’s difficult to tell which ones were the offending outfits.

One outfit that she got in trouble for was made up of a pair of high-waisted brown slacks, a cream-colored T-shirt with cacti on it tucked in, and a cream-colored cardigan on top. dress coded.

‘I actually got in trouble for wearing this T-shirt because apparently you’re only supposed to wear T-shirts on Spirit Day,’ she said.

One of the more baffling outfits to have caused a problem was a chunky white turtleneck sweater dress, which fell to her mid-thigh. She wore it with black tights and a coat for some of the day.

‘I was actually wearing this exact outfit when I got dress coded for the second time,’ she said.

‘They told me it was inappropriate for school,’ she added.

‘I’m not mad at it, I just really don’t understand,’ she said. ‘At this point, I’m just really embarrassed. I thought it would be OK with these tights. And like, this dress is long.

‘I even typed on Amazon, “dresses for teachers,” and this is what came up,’ she said.

Another problematic look was a gray sweater she wore over leather-like leggings, with a coat draped on top.

‘To be fair, the leggings are kind of hit or miss, but I got in big trouble for this one,’ she said.

Yet another look didn’t get her ‘dress-coded,’ but it did earn a critical comment.

She wore a pair of loose brown leather pants, with a long-sleeve cream-colored turtleneck sweater, topped with a long tan coat.

Though an administrator complimented her jacket, she said, ‘another teacher told me I probably shouldn’t wear a tight sweater like this.’

‘If I get kicked out, I’m going to have to restart my entire placement that I’ve done this year. Meaning that I won’t get to graduate until next year,’ she said

‘First of all, I was wearing my coat all day. And this is a sweater turtleneck bodysuit,’ she added.

Other looks she’s worn to school include a chunky white turtleneck sweater with pink maxi skirt, high-waisted gray slacks with a long-sleeve silk top tucked in, a white long-sleeve sweater under a blue jumpsuit, a green jumpsuit, and a prairie dress.

Meimiei said that each time she got in trouble, administrators refused to give her an explanation about what was so bad about her outfit, saying only that ‘my outfits are inappropriate for school.’

Worse still, the fourth time she got in trouble, the school where she student teaches reported her to her university.

‘If I get dress-coded one more time, I get kicked out of the program,’ she said the university told her.

‘If I get kicked out, I’m going to have to restart my entire placement that I’ve done this year. Meaning that I won’t get to graduate until next year.

‘I’m just so embarrassed at this point, I don’t even want to show my face,’ she said. ‘I don’t know what I should wear anymore. Or what I can wear,’ she said.

Commenters are also upset about the treatment, with many arguing that she is being treated unfairly.

‘I feel like their constant dress coding is misogynistic and feels targeted,’ wrote one.

‘There is a difference between being young and being inappropriate… wearing a T-shirt does not impact your ability to teach,’ said another.

‘They’re just dress coding you because you’re young. If an older woman at the school wore it they wouldn’t care,’ commented a third.

Meimei seemed to confirm suspicions that her age was a factor, commenting: ‘I’m literally just the youngest member of staff there by decades.

One commenter suggested she ask for a written copy of the dress code, implying that the rules seem to be arbitrarily applied to her.

Others called the treatment ‘ridiculous,’ while many just expressed utter confusion that any of the outfits were a problem.
