Studio 10 boss defends new-look format as ratings fail to surge

‘We’re confident’: Studio 10 boss DEFENDS new-look format as ratings fail to surge following Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s axing and the addition of Tristan MacManus

It’s been over a month since Studio 10 debuted its new-look lineup with Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus at the helm.

And while the pair have yet to deliver a surge in ratings, Channel 10 bosses say they’re confident the numbers will grow.

‘We’re encouraged by how the show is evolving,’ Executive Producer Tamara Simoneau told The Sunday Telegraph this weekend.

Ms Simoneau emphasised that while format changes always take time to resonate with audiences, Studio 10 is destined for greatness.

‘Tristan has done a fantastic job settling into the co-hosting role with Sarah Harris and we’re confident the momentum will continue to build over the coming months,’ she insisted.

Studio 10 underwent a dramatic overhaul in August amid a swathe of Network budge cuts, which saw panelist Kerri-Anne Kennerley made redundant.

Former Dancing With The Stars judge Tristan joined the show on September 14, attracting 54,000 metro viewers.

Ratings steadily declined over the next week, averaging 38,000 metro viewers – down 21% compared to the same time last year.

The show continued to struggle in the ratings, hitting a high of 53,000 on October 9, and a low of 26,000 on October 16.

Meanwhile, Tristan’s move to Studio 10 spelled the end of Dancing With The Stars – which was officially canned on October 15.

‘We have decided to hang up our dancing shoes, lycra pants and sequined jackets for the time being,’ a network spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia at the time.

‘We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the show, in particular Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, who were fabulous hosts, as well as all the judges, dancers, the stars and of course the crew.’
