‘Stolen’ Subaru Impreza swerves dangerously across a busy highway moments before horror crash that nearly killed 18-year-old P-plater

Frightening footage has emerged of a Subaru Impreza with stolen number plates swerving dangerously before a horror crash nearly killed a P-plater.

Queensland Police released dashcam footage of the encounter which took place south of the Sunshine Coast at around 9am on Christmas Day. 

The driver is seen swerving between the cars in front of him, as well as into the opposite lane. 

Minutes later, the Subaru rammed into 18-year-old Ebony Rich’s Suzuki, causing it to flip several times and crash into a tree before landing in a ditch.

The Subaru fled the scene and Miss Rich was found upside down in her car on Beerburrum Rd. 

The stolen number plates read 373EMZ. 

She took to Facebook to say her ‘life flashed before my eyes’ following the horrific incident, which left her with blood pouring down her face.    

‘An ignorant human going excessively over the limit in an 80km/h zone, purposely ran into the back of my causing me to flip multiple times onto the other side of the road to and hit a massive tree,’ she wrote.

‘He continued to drive very fast and leave me pinned up in a car wreck upside down. 

‘I am beyond greatful for the amazing and thoughtful humans that’s saved my life.’ 

She thanked paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service who assisted her and took her to Sunshine Coast University Hospital where she is being treated for cuts to her head and bruising from her seatbelt.

Her father Maxwell Rich plead with members of the public to come forward if they anything about the incident after police found the vehicle.

‘The vehicle rolled, almost caught fire and this person left my daughter on the side of the road to die,’ Mr Rich told Nine News. 

‘She’s had the muscles in her legs torn away and staples in her head, plus all the other things… Bits of glass and all the other things wrong with my daughter at the moment.’ 

‘My daughter’s only 18. To do this to her… is criminal,’ he told the Sunshine Coast Daily. 

‘This parasite who left my daughter in this situation continued on.

‘Open your eyes and let’s find this person, for Ebony’s sake and for everybody else’s sake.’
