Succession star Alan Ruck breaks silence after crashing his TRUCK into Hollywood pizzeria as actor says: ‘I’m fine… thank God no one was killed’ during first public outing since accident

Succession star Alan Ruck was pictured out in Studio City, California Thursday as he was seen for the first time since he careened his truck into a Hollywood pizza restaurant in a four-vehicle accident Tuesday.

The 67-year-old actor, who was seen running errands on a daytime outing, was asked about the accident and said, ‘I’m fine and thank God no one was killed.’

Ruck wore a zip-up grey sweater over a white shirt with black shorts and gray low-top sneakers with white socks.

The actor donned black sunglasses on the warm fall day and sported a knee brace. He said of the brace, ‘This isn’t because of the accident, this is because I’m getting old.’

Ruck’s wife, actress Mireille Enos, 48, was pictured out in West Hollywood on Thursday, speaking on a phone.

The accident involving Ruck took place Tuesday at around 9 p.m. at the crossroads of La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, police sources told TMZ.

Footage of the aftermath of the incident showed the a portion of the cab of the Rivian truck the Emmy-nominated actor was driving in lodged into the brick structure.

Sources told the outlet that a pair of people had suffered injuries in the incident, and were ‘conscious and breathing’ in the aftermath, and no pedestrians were involved.

The multi-car collision remains under investigation, sources told TMZ.

The Cleveland-born actor, who portrayed Connor Roy on the HBO series and Cameron Frye in 1986’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, was seen out of the vehicle in the aftermath of the multi-car collision speaking on his cell phone, TMZ reported.

According to the outlet, surveillance footage of the crash showed Ruck’s truck hit a vehicle in front of it, pushing it into the cross-section, before his truck subsequently careened into the restaurant.

LAPD Sgt. Hector Guzman told the Los Angeles Times Wednesday that ‘there were injuries reported, but they appear to be minor’ and ‘nothing life-threatening in nature.’

No one was arrested in connection with driving under the influence, according to authorities.

Restauranteur Tim Ratcliff, who was present during the chain of events Tuesday, told KTLA that ‘the whole building shook’ when Ruck’s vehicle careened into the structure.

‘I thought a bomb or something had exploded,’ he added.

Ratcliff said that he went to help Ruck after the crash, and that Ruck was more concerned about others’ well-being than his own.

‘I asked him, “Are you okay?”‘ he said. ‘And the first thing out of his mouth was, “Is everyone [else] okay? I think I hit someone. Is he okay?”‘

Ruck was involved in a high-profile driving assignment in September of 2021, when he drove the press van for the motorcade of President Joe Biden in Long Beach, California.

Fox White House producer Pat Ward said at the time that Ruck told him that ‘someone asked him if he wanted to drive in a Presidential motorcade and he figured why not.’

Ruck in recent years has had a career renaissance in the ensemble cast of Succession, which wrapped up its four season run this past May.

He played the role of Connor Roy, the oft-ignored eldest son of media mogul Logan Roy, whose storyline on the show revolved around a longshot run for president.

The veteran actor garnered an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series this year for his efforts on the critically-acclaimed series.

Ruck praised the writing of the Jesse Armstrong drama in a May 2023 interview with The New York Times.

‘Hands down the best writing I’ve ever encountered, week after week,’ Ruck said. ‘I dreamed about a show like this for years … but I do think that it’d be fun to move on to something else after playing basically the family s***, you know, for what amounted to six years.’

In the interview with the newspaper, Ruck said there were years in between Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Succession that he was unsure if he would have another prominent role in his career.

‘There were a lot of spotty years where I was just, like, basically making just enough money to stay alive,’ Ruck said. ‘When people would come up during that period and say something about Ferris Bueller it would kind of really irritate me because I felt, well, that was it. That was my shot.’

Ruck has also appeared in films including 1994’s Speed and 1996’s Twister, as well as the 2007 mini-series The Bronx Is Burning.

Prior to Succession, his best-known TV role came on the ABC comedy Spin City, as he appeared on 145 episodes of the series in the role of Stuart Bondek.

As of late, Ruck appeared on the recently-released Amazon drama The Burial alongside Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones; and has two films in the works, Crust and Wind River: Rising.
